Our club recently had a 1985 McLaughlin Snipe donated. I am trying to re-home the Snipe so it can be with other Snipes (I am a vet, sorry for the wording!) It is an orange hull with mahogany rub rails and is in pretty good condition considering it’s age. It comes with two sets of sails,canvas cover, and a trailer. We are entertaining any offers for "donations" of either cash or equipment to Edison Sailing center. I would hate to see this boat rot away because with minimal work it could look pretty spiffy. It looks like it was garage kept.

Preferably I would like one that goes with that mast, but would modify another to fit. Also. in the sole of the cockpit where the mast steps, is an approximate 1" deep depression where I assume the butt fits, but am told that a better system would be to have an actual step bracket with some adjustment options. I have a line on a plastic one that goes to a 505 that would work, but again, would prefer one that goes with my ’84 Phoenix. If you have something that would work please get in touch with me. | |

The boat had some small cracks in the top deck next to the nose that have been repaired, and there was a crack on the floor inside near the rear that has been repaired. The boat is in GREAT shape for its year. I got this boat at Thanksgiving with the hopes of restoring her, and learning how to sail her, but I just don’t have the time to invest. I have plenty of pictures if interested. Located in Abingdon VA.
