Sunday in JAX for the second and final day of the 2010 USA Snipe Class Womens National Championship was even better than the near perfect day on Saturday. The winds came in early in the morning and were steady out of 65 at a very fresh 14K. There were some differences in velocity accross the course but nothing like the piuffs and shifts on Saturday. Very few course changes. Carol Cronin and Kim Couranz completed their domination winning the final 2 races, one a windward leward and the final race an Olympic in the fresher breeze latter in the AM. The Team of Tarasa Davis and Kim Calnan (USF Sailing Team) took 2nd in each race securing their 2nd place fiunish overall. Aine Fretwell and Jessie ODell finished 3,4 for the day and took 3rd overall. Sharon Johnson and Connie Commette took 3 third in their final race. The top 3 were presented awards of a wood pen case engraved with flying Snipes. Full results are posted on the calendar section where the event is posted on the schedule.
In addition to winning the USA Snipe Class Womens Championship, Carol and Kim qualified as the North American Womens representatives to the 2010 Snipe Class Western Hemisphere and Oriend Championships to be hel this september in Canada.
The 12 Womens teams had a great time on and off the water and many are looking forward to sailing in the Snipe Class Womens World Championships to be sailed in St Pete this November.
